Dr. Katlyn Elliott began her career as a resource teacher, working with elementary students across a wide range of ability levels. Early in her career, she developed a strong foundation in instructional best practices for Exceptional Student Education (ESE), including the management of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the cultivation of core learning skills. In recognition of her impact, she was nominated for the 2016–2017 Teacher of the Year award and was part of the team honored with the Council for Exceptional Children’s Inclusionary Team of the Year award. Dr. Elliott went on to teach middle and high school students with exceptionalities at Pathways School of Excellence—a laboratory school setting that sparked her passion for instructional leadership and teacher mentorship. She later advanced to the role of assistant principal.
Dr. Elliott earned her doctorate with a capstone project that produced a comprehensive curriculum framework, outlining the scope and sequence for teaching high school students with exceptionalities that integrated Project-Based Learning.
She now applies her classroom and leadership experience to support educators in fostering supportive and high-expectation learning environments. Her approach emphasizes building community within the classroom, establishing clear expectations, and delivering high-quality instruction. Dr. Elliott is committed to helping teachers empower students to become engaged, capable contributors to society, guided by their individual, God-given strengths. Most importantly, she desires for each of her students to feel the empowerment that comes with being wonderfully made by God.
